You've all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You're after one that's gold eternally. 1 Corinthians 9:24,25 MSG
Super Bowl Sunday. Did you tune in and watch? I loved seeing the camaraderie within each team on the field. I marveled at their dedication and purpose. I sat on the edge of my seat as each team gave all they had to win. No one can question the fact that each team trained hard.
What I didn’t like is that one team had to go home without the trophy. They instead left the game with a mind full of doubt, questions and should-have-beens. The emotion bottled into the last second of the game and that final score still stirs my heart.
I am so thankful that our spiritual lives are not lived out in a Super Bowl stadium. I appreciate the fact that in God’s race we are all winners. If we keep our eye on the prize and stay in the game we will win. No one that is spiritually fit has to go home with doubt, questions or could-have-beens. We will, instead, win an eternal prize far greater than any earthly trophy.
