God Time

I will not neglect Your word. Psalm 119:16 NIV

You’ve been there – you are having a bad day and you begin seeking God’s comfort from His word. Shortly you realize your frustrations are turned to joy.

Determine today to take pleasure in the Lord and His word. The psalmist writes, “I will not neglect Your Word.” As you wake in the morning remember to set aside a special time with the Lord. Make it your God Time.

Make that appointment today. Begin by deciding where you will meet the Lord to reflect on His goodness. Will it be at the kitchen table, in your favorite chair or on your back porch? Wherever you chose, the Lord will be there waiting.

Would you like a cup of coffee as you meet and savor God's fresh word?Reflecting on His truths, goodness, and faithfulness will perk up your morning. With a little bit of preparation today and the aroma of coffee to stir your soul, you are sure to have a peaceful morning.

On Holy Ground

There are mountains sky high
And valleys so low
Deserts - dry
And rivers that flow

There are cities with people
From sea to shining sea
And wherever in that land I'm found
I know I'm standing on Holy Ground

On Holy Ground
Hear the sweet sound
Where Maranatha songs of praise resound
Hallelujah, His Spirit is all around

I'm thankful God’s forgiving grace abounds
And no shadow of my sin can be found
For in the presence of the Lamb
I will worship God on Holy ground

The burning bush was years ago
On Holy ground to worship I still go
I’ll be with Him one glorious day
But ‘til then my heart will say

I'll worship Him wherever I’m found
When God is present we are on Holy ground

Kick Off Your Flip Flops

“Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.” Exodus 2:5

I remember being young and hearing mom holler as I ran out the door, “Please, put your shoes on.” I hated that. I loved running around bare-footed. There was no need for those confining shoes.

I wanted to feel the cool grass on the bottom of my feet or the warm sand squishing between my toes. Of course, there was the occasional rock or sticker, but I didn’t care. Feeling the earth beneath my feet was so refreshing.

God still calls out, “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.” So, today slow down for a minute, kick off your flip flops, feel His earth under your feet, and be refreshed.

Taking Action

Jesus said, “Come, follow me. . ." Matthew 4:19

. . . and they left at once.

It is hard to believe those fishermen just up and left at once. Immediately. No time for thinking about it. No time for arguing. No preparation time. They took action at that particular moment in time.

Because they were willing to "go" and follow Jesus with no questions asked, the fishermen must have sensed the urgency Christ had to His mission and purpose. Do you sense that same urgency? Would you act as quickly as they did? The fishermen heard the call and answered immediately with action. Yep, they dropped their nets, left their families and followed. You do that, don’t you? Do you hear Christ call and you answer with an affirmative, “Yes, I’ll follow?” That is hard for me. I like to sit and mull it over for awhile, question it, and even get the opinions of my friends.

Then the moment slips by. I said I'd follow, but before I know it a month has slipped away. I lost the urgency of the moment to take action. Sometimes following can be as simple as picking up the phone, writing a card, or stopping by to visit someone in need.

Lord, may we learn from the fishermen; they obeyed You at once. They didn't sit around, but yet took action. May we sense the urgency of Christ call and nudgings and take action immediately.
