“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.” 1 John 4:18
A few years ago I was in Dallas and decided to visit T.D. Jake’s church, The Potter’s House, on a Sunday morning. As I entered the parking lot, excitement and anticipation overtook me.
Walking into the building and sanctuary I thought this is as close to heaven as I’ve ever been. The service was angelic and filled with God’s love. I was lost in the spirit of worship and for a moment had forgotten about the pressures that had been weighing heavily upon me.
About halfway through the service a dear lady, whom I didn’t know, leaned over and said “God gave me a word for you.” I was stunned, but eagerly waited to hear what God had to say. She whispered, “Perfect love casts out all fear. Perfect love casts out fear.”
As she spoke those words my heart melted. I had been carrying around some big fears and yet God, through this precious woman, was reminding me that Jesus - perfect love - was the only one who could cast out these fears. He was the only one who was going to get me through.
What do you fear today? Loss of job, loss of loved one, a crumbling marriage, a rebellious child, financial bankruptcy?
Fear not. Give your struggles to Jesus for His perfect love casts out fear.

I know this scripture very well. God gave this scripture in March 2008 when a co-worker had criticized me and embarrassed me in front of everyone. The next day I got a devotional on Perfect Love Cast Out ALL FEAR! And the devotional was talking about being criticized by a co-worker. God was there with me. He knew how this person had made me feel and then God spoke words that went straight to me heart. He had seen my hurt and pain and He did not want me to fear what this person had done. God is do wonderfully GOOD! Thank you for writing this. It was good to see you again this weekend. What an awesome conference. God spoke such words of encouragement to me. I felt like I was the only one in the room and He was speaking directly to me. It was Amazing to see what God did this weekend for His daughters!
Blessings,
Janice
