Behind Closed Doors

“. . . the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid . . .” John 20:19 NLT

Do you remember the Charlie Rich song Behind Closed Doors? The last line of the chorus was, “Oh, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors.” We’d all like to think we can leave or do things behind closed doors and no one will find out.

The sad thing is that while we are trying to cover up what we don’t want to deal with or hide what we are doing Jesus is there in the midst. As the disciples were afraid and meeting behind locked doors Jesus appeared out of nowhere. However, Jesus didn’t come with condemnation, but with peace.

What are you hiding behind closed doors? Maybe it is bitterness, unforgiveness, hatred, financial struggles or marital stress. Whatever you are trying to hide it’s time to give it to Jesus. He is there behind the closed doors waiting for you to unlock and open the door and ask for help.

Jesus waits patiently to bring peace to what you have hidden behind closed doors.

Thanks for the reminder that we are never really hiding behind the door. That we are never criticized by God. I have much I need to take out from behind the door.
